Simone Marques Gomes graduated from the Federal University of Goias (UFG) Brazil in 1989 in nutrition and from the State University of Goias (ESEFEGO) in physical education in 1991. In 1997, she completed a specialization in sports nutrition in the University of Murcia, Spain.
She came to Canada in 2008 and she validated the nutrition diploma at the University of Montréal in 2015. Simone is currently a member of the Sacre Coeur Hospital team, and she works with chronic diseases at the Center Jean Jacques Gauthier – CJJG in Montréal.
Her area of expertise is the nutritional management of the bariatric surgery process. She accompanies bariatric patients along pre, peri and postoperative stages to help them achieve optimal health with their lifestyle changes. She also works with chronic diseases and has extensive experience with diabetes, dyslipidemia, hypertension, and lifestyle adaptations.
Session Objectives:
The presentation will focus on our team experience in supporting patients in all the nutritional changes in their lifestyle that are associated with the bariatric surgery and to give them all the tools necessary to optimaze their nutritionnal status and to avoid complcations and/or malnutrition.
