Dr. Dan Eisenberg studied Molecular Biophysics and Biochemistry at Yale University, before attending medical school at Washington University in Saint Louis, Missouri. And then returned to Yale for surgical residency and fellowship training in Minimally Invasive Surgery and Bariatrics. He is currently a Professor of Surgery at Stanford School of Medicine and works at the Veterans Affairs Hospital in Palo Alto, California.
Dr. Eisenberg’s research interest is in obesity and bariatric surgery in special populations. Specifically, he is studying obesity and onset of metabolic disease in veterans with spinal cord injury. He is immediate past-chair of the Clinical Issues Committee of the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery and lead author of the 2022 ASMBS/IFSO Indications for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery.
