Evaluating weight loss associated with bariatric surgery after liraglutide use: a matched cohort study

Muhammad Faran earned a Bachelor of Medical Sciences (Class of 2022) from Western University. He currently works as a full-time Research Assistant at the Centre for Surgical Invention and Innovation in Hamilton, Ontario, under the supervision of Dr. Aristithes Doumouras (OBN Research Lead). He has recently been admitted into medical school and will be pursuing an M.D. starting this fall! His research interests include GLP-1 receptor agonists for weight loss, anemia recovery after bariatric surgery, obesity and mitochondrial dysfunction, bariatric surgery and hypertension, the psychological impact of obesity and bariatric surgery, and gut microbiome changes after bariatric surgery. Outside work, he loves going to the gym and trying different restaurants with friends. He also loves traveling and is excited to visit Spain and Italy this summer before he starts medical school!
